On Monday, August 29, many of the industry’s best gathered together once again at the beautiful Colonia Country Club for the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of New Jersey (AASP/NJ)’s 12th Annual Lou Scoras Memorial Golf Outing. The gorgeous sunny day featured lunch, dinner and a ceremony to honor the memory of one of the association’s most beloved members.

Shop owners, technicians, vendors and various industry professionals attended the fundraiser filled with laughter and joy. A portion of the proceeds went towards a scholarship in honor of Lou Scoras. Not only did several industry members attend the outing, but in addition, they helped sponsor the event through prize and hole sponsorships.

After lunch and a long day of golf, guests were treated to a cocktail reception followed by dinner where guests partook in 50/50 and a prize raffle on an unprecedented scale. The dinner was emceed by Joe Amato Sr. of the Amato Agency.

“Even though this event is a tribute to Lou, it is also a time to recognize and remember those in the industry that we have recently lost,” AASP/NJ President Jeff McDowell said in a speech prior to dinner being served. “I want to thank everyone who took the time from a work day to come out here and honor all of their memories.”

AASP/NJ Executive Director Charles Bryant, who put the event together, added, “Even though this is a very emotional day for those of us who knew and worked with Lou, it’s gratifying to see how much support we get and how much fun the players have. Having Lou’s brother John come up and tell some moving stories about Lou added special meaning. It was a fantastic day all around.”
