AASP/NJ Hosts Annual Race Night to Build Community

When industry competition can tend to divide shops, a little friendly competition helps to bring them closer together. In a show of collision repair camaraderie, on Thursday, June 11, 51 individuals from all aspects of the automotive industry alike got together for the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of New Jersey’s (AASP/NJ) Fourth Annual Race Night, held at Pole Position Raceway in Jersey City.

Featuring go-karts that reach up to 45 mph at 18 HP with no fumes, racers went head to head in a fierce three race competition. Although every racer gave it their all, only one could come out on top. After all was said and done, Bryan Natale of Pace Collision took the top spot. Other winners included Ian Szoboszlay of Cosmos Auto Parts, who came in second place and Mike, a young guest of Walter’s Auto Body who came in third.

“It’s a great opportunity for the guys to come and relax,” says AASP/NJ President Jeff McDowell. “Not only does it build a stronger collision repair community, but it also helps build relationships within the shop as well. We race for a few hours, have some pizza and drinks and just enjoy each other’s company. It’s one of my personal favorite events.”
