Industry Camaraderie, Great Weather Highlight AASP/NJ’s 9th Annual Lou Scoras Memorial Golf Outing

Summery temperatures, good times, good food and best of all, good deeds were all on full display at the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of New Jersey (AASP/NJ)’s Ninth Annual Lou Scoras Memorial Golf Outing, the association’s yearly event in memory of the former association member.

Over 100 golfers turned out for the fundraiser, with partial proceeds from the event going to a scholarship in Scoras’ name. “This was a great day for AASP/NJ, our golfers and most of all, the Scoras family,” AASP/NJ Executive Director Charles Bryant says. “I was a little scared the night before when it was cold and rainy, but Lou must have had a talk with Mother Nature, because it turned out to be a beautiful day.”

The elegant Colonia Country Club in Colonia, NJ was the site of this year’s outing and guests were treated to a full day of golf followed by a cocktail reception and dinner. The evening was highlighted by door prizes and the humor of AASP/NJ Board member Joe Amato, who served as Master of Ceremonies.

Bryant praised the dozens of industry sponsors whose support was integral to the event’s success. “We couldn’t do this every year without the support of so many people,” he notes, “especially our sponsors. AASP/NJ encourages our members to support the sponsors that support us when purchasing products and services. We value all of our sponsors and supporters tremendously. They make events like this possible.”

As the day wound down, AASP/NJ President Jeff McDowell shared his feelings on the tournament with those in attendance. “Many years ago, when I first got involved with the association, Lou took me under his wing and gave me a lot of advice,” he said. “Not just about the business, but also about the people in the business. He was the kind of guy who did that for many of us. Now, over 20 years later, I like to think that having this event in his name every year is kind of a thank you for that advice. So for that, I thank all of you for helping us make this an outstanding day for AASP/NJ and the Scoras family.”
