On Thursday, September 1, the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) launched the collision industry-centric SCRS Career Center. The job board is being offered to all job seekers free of charge, and employer pricing for job postings is discounted for members of the association. The resource was launched as part of the Auto Care Careers Industry Job Board Network, along with the Auto Care Association, the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and other industry organizations.
The SCRS release stated, “It is an industry solution, created through industry collaboration. It collectively represents the largest audience of qualified automotive industry professionals.”
The AASP/NJ has run a Labor Pool in New Jersey for over 20 years to assist automotive industry workers find jobs and AASP/NJ members find employees. However, the AASP/NJ Labor Pool has always been limited to just New Jersey. With the present shortage of repair technicians across the country, the timing of the SCRS Career Center couldn’t be better.
“Helping raise awareness of the solution was a big part of our launch focus. We want job seekers and employers to know that there are plenty of options for them and that there is an industry-specific job board that can help them,” stated SCRS Vice President and Education Committee Chairman Kye Yeung.
The types of job postings range anywhere from legal advisor to lot attendant. Jobs that require varying levels of experience and/or education are sure to draw in students fresh out of school. In addition, the site offers job seekers paid resume writing services. While the job seekers do get to browse the site and apply for jobs at no charge, the employers are charged anywhere from $220 to $300 for a single job posting.
According to Executive Director of AASP/NJ Charles Bryant, “Based on the success record of the New Jersey Labor Pool, I have no doubt that the SCRS National Career Center will be a great success and fill a much needed void in this industry. I would recommend every member of the industry participate in this much needed program and help make it a success so our industry has a national source to find the employees when needed. Congratulations to the SCRS team for addressing one of the greatest challenges our industry is presently facing.”
With a job board developed solely with industry employers in mind, SCRS expects the site to be a huge success. If you would like to browse the site or want more information on the SCRS Career Center, please visit www.scrs.com/jobs.
